The Mozilla festival 2019, Themed " Healthy AI" will be hosted in London from 22nd October to 27th October 2019. The 2019 edition will mark the 10th anniversary of the program and is expected to host hundreds of educators, activists, technologists, researchers, artists, and young people dedicated to creating a better, healthier internet. With inspiring stories in over 300 interactive sessions, Mozfest is one of the biggest gatherings in the open movement that gives participants the opportunity to build a healthy internet for the next generation.

Sadik Shahadu, an Open Leaders X (OLˣ) trainee will be co-facilitating a session with Greg Mcverry, an associate professor at Southern Connecticut State University and past alumni of the Mozilla fellowship program. Sadik and Greg will co-facilitate a web literacy session themed "Indieweb and Open educational resources (OER)".

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

Sadik is an inspiring energetic open leader who works to build open educational practices (OER) in Ghana. He is a co-founder and Director of Communication/Partnerships for Global Open Initiative, a young non-profit organization working internationally to promote data access and open educational resources.

Sadik has been involved in several projects to support education in Ghana, including:

A project to build and distribute “Internet-in-a-box” devices that enable people in Ghana to use rich online resources like Wikipedia even when their access to the Internet and electricity is missing or limited.An OER Network to provide no-cost websites for teachers in Ghana to create and share open educational resources designed specifically for local teaching and learning needs. He volunteers in facilitating/coordinating Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia commons in Ghana.

Greg McVerry is a member of the advisory board for the Global Open Initiative. He is an Associate Professor of Education at Southern Connecticut State University. He is a Neag Fellow serving in the New Literacies Research Lab. Greg teaches and researches at the intersection of literacy and technology. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Literacy Coalition of Greater New Haven. He is a member of the media and digital literacies collaborative of NCTE. He has won several awards.

He is an alumnus of the Mozilla fellowship program and will be working with Sadik to build Open educational resources in Ghana.
